Courses are offered at our downtown Vancouver campus and online too. Offering courses online brings flexibility to education, allowing those who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to gain respected qualifications.

Capstone Projects for MBA Students

This MBA Capstone experience is designed for students nearing the completion of their MBA program, equipped with skills in business development, marketing research, digital marketing, innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation. Learners are prepared to apply their comprehensive knowledge to real-world projects, offering fresh perspectives and innovative solutions. This experience allows students to collaborate with industry professionals to tackle strategic business challenges, providing valuable insights and actionable strategies. Each student will be assigned to a single project for a 10 week duration, completing with a final presentation to the client. Two students may be assigned if there are two specific projects for a client.
MBA Project - Small Business Management Summer 2025

The MBA students are in a capstone project-based course, designed for students in the final term of their MBA program. The course has a strong analytical, applied, and experiential orientation. Students work in groups of 4-5 to focus on a challenge/opportunity for the business. The students' process - and ultimate deliverable will include a current analysis of the business, problem or opportunity identification, research (as applicable), recommended solutions/strategy with implementation plan, budget and finally, risk identification and mitigation strategies (again, as applicable). The project can be for a Canadian business of any size, however enterprises run by solo-preneurs would probably not provide the necessary scope.

This experience connects MBA students with industry professionals to develop comprehensive marketing strategies tailored to business needs. Learners will leverage their understanding of market dynamics, consumer behavior, and strategic planning to create actionable marketing plans. Students will deliver integrated marketing communication plans and performance evaluation frameworks by applying their knowledge of segmentation, targeting, positioning, and the marketing mix. This collaboration offers companies fresh insights and innovative approaches to enhance their market presence. We are seeking collaborations with businesses that: Currently have 5 or more employees on staff Are actively in business (not planning on launching) have an annual turnover of $800,000+ Ideally looking to offer internship, co-op, and employment opportunities after the Experience concludes
Thriving your small business with UCW MBA capstone

Are you experiencing challenges related to business strategy, operations, marketing, or growth? Graduate level students at University Canada West (UCW) are in the final year of their MBA, and often bring along extensive prior industry experience. Over the course of the term, students will meet with you to determine your challenge, provide an organizational diagnosis, prepare a proposal and revise in address to your feedback, and finally provide a presentation and a thorough report which includes their analysis and recommendations. We are looking to collaborate with businesses that meet the following criteria: 1. The business should be a legally registered and ongoing small business . A new start-up or business is fine. 2. The business should be based in Canada (P.S. For UCW is based in Vancouver, BC, business with operation and/or customer/supplier connection in Vancouver or BC may be additionally benefited). 3. The business owner should be willing to work with up to five student groups (around five students per group) throughout the duration of the term. Communication must be conducted on Riipen. 4. The business owner should be willing to spend approximately an hour per week (on average) speaking with students, responding to their queries, etc. 5. For the purpose of confidentiality and data privacy, it is expected that the business owner will provide a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) form that students and the business owner will sign. 6. If the business owner agrees to the points mentioned above, the business owner will have an initial virtual meeting through a video call with the course instructor. The course instructor will discuss the details of the course, expectations, etc., and will answer any questions or concerns of the business owner.
