Are you an NGO or Nonprofit with a challenge you would like to tackle? Students will come to understand the various roles that NGOs fill in providing services, promoting particular values, forming the basis for community self-help initiatives, or campaigning on public issues. Students will analyze, and demonstrate their familiarity with organizational behaviours and practices. This is a required course for KPU's Certificate in NGO and Nonprofit Studies.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

The final deliverable by December 11th, but can be completed earlier. Email communication and online meetings may be required. The students are asked to complete six hours of service learning, including work on their final deliverable. Deliverables, in the past, have included powerpoint presentations, pamphlets, and document delivery.

Project examples

Each student is expected to complete six hours of service-learning. They are meant to learn something of the inner workings of a nonprofit organization. Students have, in the past, prepared:

  • Policy summaries;
  • Volunteer handbooks;
  • Social media campaigns and;
  • Conducted surveys
