Expected outcomes and deliverables

During the first week of the term, you will meet with your team of students to discuss your product vision, goals, and priorities. The students will develop software in two week increments, always focusing on the next-most-important thing. At the end of each two week cycle, you will review the product, provide feedback, and re-evaluate priorities.

The client is responsible for hosting. Students do not provide ongoing maintenance.

Project Examples

Requirements

Starting this September, a student-consultant group will spend 200 hours over 11 weeks developing a software product for your organization.

Based on your input, students will utilize a wide range of technologies and tools to build a secure web, mobile, or desktop application that creates business value for your organization.

Teams will develop software in progressive two-week increments. At the end of each increment, you will provide feedback to guide the next stage of development.

Project examples include, but are not limited to:

  • An application to streamline data analysis.

  • A website for a non-profit that includes the ability for potential volunteers to apply online and admin users to log in and review applications.
  • A mobile application that enables patrons to find, share, and rate local "happy hours."
  • A web application that lets users register for classes online and lets teachers print rosters and track attendance.
  • A shift scheduler for caregivers.
  • An online database that allows staff at an outreach agency to keep track of their clients and client meetings and view demographic summaries of the clients they serve.
  • An accessible mobile app that helps people with disabilities to connect with one another.
